WHY IT WORKS
While substantial results can usually be seen already in the first week of the program, it makes sense, if possible, to stay for 2 to 4 weeks to reap the most benefit from entering into ketosis.
During the program, we follow a HiLiLoCaaP nutrition regime which has its roots in the ketogenic diet.
Through this, we restrict the intake of carbohydrates, increase the consumption of lipids and ensure that we consume adequate proteins to avoid loss of lean body mass. By doing this very precisely, our body substantially stops burning sugar for energy and swaps to burning fat instead.
When this happens, we are in the natural, metabolic state of ketosis which is what we want to achieve as quickly and as deeply as possible.
We establish the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) for each guest and design the nutrition plan for each one individually on a daily basis for each meal, precisely calculating caloric values and macronutrient ratios.
To achieve ketosis as fast as possible the program employs several techniques to expedite this which also alleviates most side effects of the transition period from burning carbs into ketosis.
The program also utilizes the technique of intermittent nutrient restriction to accentuate caloric expenditure during the fasted state while in ketosis. Adding moderate, medium intensity activity in this state further maximizes body fat burn and weight loss and increases the metabolic rate.
As carbohydrates are minimized, blood sugar is reduced, decreasing the body’s secretion of insulin.
This greatly reduces hunger and cravings. Most of our guests do not experience any feeling of hunger or food cravings during the program, after reaching ketosis.
This makes the program, with its substantial caloric deficit, bearable and with the built-in lifestyle components and its great food, even fun, just like a “normal” holiday.
The program is not for you if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a liver or kidney disfunction, had your Gallbladder removed, suffer from an eating disorder or are type 1 diabetic.
